Six boats across for a series of 2k power pieces on a beautiful day at the Caspersen Training Center. Here is the first minute of the last piece.

NSR II: Finish Line Photos

Only .6 seconds separated first place from fourth in the A Final of the Men's Pairs, so if you blinked you missed it. Between the A & B final there were 6 boats within 1.7 seconds of each other.
Thanks to Powerhouse Timing we have the finish line photos for the A & B finals.

The crewing in the semi-finals this afternoon will be the most competitive race, in terms of personnel and experience, since my first speed-order/NSR in the Spring of 2001. Lake Carnegie was tranquil back then. This type of racing format was new for most of us as a key part of selection.

How many out there remember the first time they had the toe in their coxless boats? We've started our starboard stroked matrix and yesterday we did our first set of racing. Needless to say, things got a little intersting. On the first piece we almost hit the shore. However, by the second piece we were going straight enough to pull off a win. I'm getting better every day, but it is still a humbling experience to know just what everyone on port side already knows.
