Killing Time
The pursuit of new hobbies goes well. I'm starting to get my bow set up the way that I want it. The first time I went shooting I was a little off of the target. I managed to hit it about 15% of the time. I've since adjusted the sight a little and lowered the arrow rest. That's brought me up to 20% I think that through adjustments I'll only get another couple of percent. The rest I'll have to chalk up to user error. A few of us went and saw the new Rambo movie in the theaters this weekend and I believe that I've found some new motivation to improve my skills. If you are a fan of the other Rambo's, go see this one. (http://www.slashfilm.com/wp/wp-content/images/rambo-death-chart.jpg) He worked hard to provide the right amount of carnage while still wrapping up the series nicely. It was everything I expected. But, if you're looking for more than just shootem-up action then you probably need to see the others first so that you can understand the sparse dialogue and conflict within that he is facing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not shooting broadheads and not aiming at anyone's skull. But, it does make me want to own the target more. There aren't nearly enough holes in it yet. I've been practicing on the side with the dots. Hopefully I'll be able to move up to the silhouette side soon.
The Shotguns are here as well. I think that we're gonna try and put up some video of some of the guys shooting. Those things have quite a kick. Just wait and see how much Ned gets kicked back when he pulls the trigger. The nice part about South Carolina is that there are government sponsored target ranges around here where you can just show up and throw things out to shoot at. All subsidized and taken care of. Just show up and squeeze off a few rounds. It truly is God's country down here and the locals love it when you tell them that.
In other news, John McCain continues to do well. Last weekend he won here in SC. I like to think that the calls I made for his campaign helped. But I think he lost Greenville and Anderson counties (which is where I made my calls) so I don't think I helped all that much. But, I'm glad to see that some people in this state saw the light. He's locked in a neck and neck battle with Mitt down in Florida. He could really use a win there. I think that would cement him as a favorite going into super Tuesday. The problem is that while moderates and independents trust him, the right doesn't trust him at all. We'll just see what happens.
Thought of the day-- whoever said ignorance is bliss has it all wrong. Being ignorant of your ignorance may be bliss, but when you are aware of just how much you don't know its really frustrating and is nowhere near bliss.

pretty sweet that you've picked up a bow--i shot recurve in college for a year, but the combined load of rowing and archery killed me. oops. like rowing, archery is just the pursuit of the perfect form, hundreds of times in a row.
