E-On Hanse Canal Cup
So the long weekend begins. Over the next three days the guys will compete in a 500 meter erg sprint, 3x400 meter water sprint and to stay in the style of short racing, a 12.7 kilometer rowing marathon. Wait, thats not short is it?! Bit it is the length of the race. To get started in good order we started off today with a long one. After flying a red eye from Newark to Hamburg, we were taken to the head quarters of E-On Hanse to have breakfast with their president, Heir Thesen. It was a great breakfast with all the German pork products present. I think all were happy. We then went to the boat house to get our boat and ors ready. It was a huge relief to see that the oars were already painted! Then we went out for a row in rolling withe caps. Das is fantastisch! All in all it was a pretty good row considering the winds, water and cramping up athletes. Immediately after (19 minutes for anyone counting) the team was whisked off to a brewery for a tour and dinner. The food was good and the beer was better. The Germans definitely know how to do comfort food. You can also see a picture of Giuseppe in front of a super huge skillet. We were pretty amazed, it does not take much. I will add pictures throughout the weekend so stay tuned. This is a pretty cool place for some great photo ops!

how'd the race go down?
