Cooke's Cuts - Feburary

With lakes frozen and snow piled high, new music is the only salvation for the winter erging blues. This month brings fun remixes to some old classics including hits by Hellogoodbye, Fatboy Slim and the Basement Jaxx. In honor of Valentine's Day, celebrate with some Sexual Healing. Finish it all off with a room shaking, breath taking hit from Prodigy. Be sure to let me know how this mix rocks your work-out.
So load up your iPod and take some tens, this mix promises to get you through CRASH-B's in style.

Song: Half Light (Eddy TM Losers Remix)

With an intro reminiscent of “Teenage Wasteland“, it’s hard to resist the temptation to crank it up. And go ahead, because the rest of the song rocks just as hard as the first few bars. - Artist: Fatboy Slim

Song: Right Here, Right Now (Freemason’s Remix)

The Freemason’s were able to put a new spin on the old classic. This will take you back a few years and remind you of how far you’ve come since right then, right there.
- Artist: Lily Allen

Song: LDN

After reviewing Lily Allen’s new album, Alright, Sill, it’s hard to pick a favorite; all of the tracks are fun, entertaining tunes with spiteful lyrics sugarcoated by her sweet tone. This track has Lily daintily riding her bike through downtown London and enjoying the mayhem she encounters along the way.
- Artist: Basement Jaxx

Song: Take Me Back to Your House (Kurd Maverick Remix)

Pinsent and Redgrave. Russians and doping. Now think erging and the Basement Jaxx. No playlist is complete without at least one of their tracks. Here’s their newest single hitting hard with blistering lyrics and a healthy kick of bass.
- Artist: Hellogoodbye

Song: Here (In Your Arms) [Young Americans Remix]

Great remix from a great song. The synthesizer and bass meander all over the place, but the familiar lyrics stick the pace. If you liked the original, you owe it to yourself to get this remix.
- Artist: Walken

Song: Boy (Meets Girl)

Think Bee Gee’s meets Benny Benassi. This is an amusing track, from Freemason’s new album, Shakedown, that will keep you smiling during those long steady state sessions.
- Artist: Bloc Party

Song: Song for Clay [Disappear Here]

Fresh off A Weekend in the City, Bloc Party’s newest album features a great song that will to put you to work. Starts out slow, but builds into a steady pace that will keep you running happily for five more minutes.
- Artist: Bodyrox feat Luciana

Song: Yeah Yeah (D. Ramirez Radio Edit)

Though the track hits right from the start, it’s Luciana’s salty lyrics that will keep you replaying it over and over.
- Artist: Alibi & Rockefeller

Song: Sexual Healing

In honor of Valentine’s Day, celebrate with this remix of Marvin Gaye’s classic.
ERG ROOM CLASSIC:
- Artist: Prodigy

Song: Smack My Bitch Up

Arguably the best track on the album, Prodigy gives us a very explosive song with tons of high and lows. Just like a good piece, it starts slow, building energy, until it blasts wide open with a fitful beat drop that fires as hard as the lactic acid in your legs. Somewhere near the middle, a wailing voice, maybe even your own, slows you down just long enough to catch your breath, before the pounding rhythm strikes again, taking you home.
