  • Nena - 99 Luftballons
    Nena - 99 Luftballons - 99 Luftballons
Let’s start out with a well known classic to get us in the mood, and classic is the only word to describe this ageless hit. When it plays, you sing along, when it drums, you tap your feet. I’ve given you the German version so get out your dictionaries.

  • Paul Van Dyk - White Lies (Berlin Mix)
Paul Van Dyk featuring Jessica Sutta - White Lies - EP - White Lies (L.A. Mix)
For nearly two decades, I’ve enjoyed the King of Trance’s albums for their intricacies, rhythms, and beautiful vocals. It’s not mainstream radio material: no predictable choruses, no cheesy rhymes, or fashionable guest appearances. Rather, he takes a subtle approach to create a dramatic and stunning sound. While “White Lies” has revved up the clubs, be sure to also check out one of my all time favorite songs, “Nothing But You- feat Hemstock & Jennings”.

  • Samy Deluxe - Ain’t Got Nothing (Feat David Banner & Eddy Soulo)
David Banner, Eddy Soulo & Samy Deluxe - So Deluxe So Glorious - Ain't Got Nothing (Featuring David Banner & Eddy Soulo)
He’s a rapper, he’s a producer, and he’s just just plain successful. Samy Deluxe has done collaborations with DMX as well as produced two successful rap groups. His DJ skills are as polished as his rhymes. You don’t need to speak German to know that this single is sweet.

  • Oiro - Raumschiff Dusseldorf / Von Beruf Urlauber
Oiro - Als Was Geht Gott an Karneval? - Raumschiff Düsseldorf / Von Beruf Urlauber
What would a playlist be without some good ol’ German punk? This track is sure to get your fists pumping. The 1970’s gave rise to many British punk groups, so the German’s answered back with a few of their own. That groundwork led the way for bands like Oiro to rock the underground scene and make records that sell out to this day.

  • DJ Tocadisco - You’re No Good For Me (Tocadisco’s Recover Mix)
Tocadisco - You're No Good for Me - EP - You're No Good for Me (Tocadisco's Recover Mix)
Sound familiar? That’s Prodigy taken to another level by the talents of Tocadisco, one of Germany’s finest. Tocadisco has made plenty of his own hits yet has found time to lay his brilliant hands on the works of Tiga, Sharam, and Bob Sinclair. This single ought to bring your race to the next level.

  • Rammstein - Du hast (Single Version)
Rammstein - Du hast - EP - Du hast
Although I have no idea what they are saying, it just makes you want to pull your ass off. Great for any pre-race warm up when you need a little testosterone on your side.

  • Scooter - Ramp! (The Logical Song)
Scooter - 24 Carat Gold - Ramp! (The Logical Song)
Here’s your dose of Cut’s bubblegum, in the form of ultra high NRG dance music, brought to you by Scooter. This group is very catchy and very popular, giving hardcore rave music to the masses. This track is like a quad shot of espresso, sometimes it’s exactly what you need.

  • Azad - Drama
    Azad & Linda Carriere - 3p Best of, Vol. 1 - Drama
Azad is another hip hop artist whose multicultural background, German and Iranian, yield smooth results, which is just what a any good playlist needs for well rounded pleasure. After leaving the Asiatic Warriors, his solo career has sailed and his single “Drama” serves as proof.

  • Modeselektor - Silikon (Feat Sasha Perera)
Modeselektor & Sasha Perera - Hello Mom! - Silikon (Featuring Sasha Perera)
Perhaps best described as “Experimental,” this electronic genre is exciting, energetic and unique. It’s electronica that floats, pops and clicks above mainstream media. The crisp stutter of Sasha Perara sounds like a cross between M.I.A. and Missy Elliott. It’s worth checking out if you’re looking for a new sound. Give your iPod a makeover and download the whole Hello Mom! album.

  • Kraftwerk - Tour de France
    Kraftwerk - Minimum-Maximum - Tour de France
These guys have been THE scene since 1971. They are the indisputable roots of electronica, pop, hip hop and many avenues of rock. It’s hard not to notice their industrial influence when listening to their early records. From the Minimum – Maximum album, Tour de France fantastically huffs and puffs right along side you from start to finish. This is not just music; it’s a piece of culture.
